History

History of Roberts County ESD 1

The Roberts County ESD 1 was created in 2004. The Miami Volunteer EMS was struggling financially due to being so rural and needed help to stay running for the citizens of Roberts County. A petition was filed at the Roberts County Courthouse and the ESD was formed. An annual fiscal year budget is adopted every September, and runs from October 1st of said year, to September 30th of the following year. The budget for the ESD is based off of property tax revenue alone, no sales tax, from tax payers of Roberts County. The primary duty of the Roberts county ESD 1 is to support the Miami Volunteer EMS. The ESD has also, on a few occasions, helped the Miami-Roberts County Volunteer Fire Department, and Roberts County Sheriff's Office. In accordance with Texas health and Safety Code, Chapter 775, our main goal is to provide public funding for our Emergency Services, so that they may continue to provide the best care possible for the people of Roberts County.
